This project is located at the Maternity and Childcare Hospital of Xinmi City, Henan province. Customer has selected 2 units of direct fired absorption chiller and 1 unit of exhaust&hot water absorption chiller from Hope Deepblue.
Direct fired absorption chiller is used to provide cooling or heating when the generator/CHP set is off. The exhaust & hot water chiller are adopted to recover the waste heat from the generator set, to provide cooling and heating for the hospital.
Aside from the absorption chiller, the solution also includes 2 air source heat pumps, 5 units of axial fans and a single unit of plate heat exchanger.
When only power is required by the hospital, the customer activates the generator set. The exhaust produced by the generator is then discharged after undergoing denitrification, while the jacket water and intercooler water are directed to axial fans for heat dissipation at the top of the machine room. In an alternative scenario, the jacket water flows through a 3-way motor valve into a plate heat exchanger for heat transfer. The heated water is then stored in a tank and can be distributed to each room during the evening, as needed.
When both power and cooling are required by the hospital, the customer activates the generator set. The exhaust from the generator is first directed to the exhaust and hot water absorption chiller after denitrification, serving as the primary heat source. Simultaneously, the jacket water and intercooler water enter the chiller as the secondary heat source. Cooling water is pumped to the cooling tower, where it is cooled and then returned to the absorption chiller. The chilled water produced by the chiller is distributed through a water distributor box and transported to the terminals via pumps.
When the generator set is turned off and only the direct-fired LiBr absorption chiller is operating, the chiller is powered by natural gas to provide cooling for the hospital. The flue gas produced by the direct-fired absorption chiller is discharged through a dedicated chimney. The two on-site direct-fired LiBr absorption chillers are also equipped with a heating function. Typically, both chillers provide heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. During heating mode, the main chiller unit is turned off, and the valve between the high-temperature generator (HTG) and the chiller is closed. In this mode, the absorption chiller functions as a boiler, supplying hot water to the hospital.
