Sinopec Jianghan Salt and Chemical Complex, a subsidiary of China Petroleum and Chemical Co., Ltd., is a comprehensive chemical enterprise that houses various production sub-plants, including a salt nitrate plant, chlorine alkali plant, bleaching powder refining plant, daily chemical plant, and thermal power plant. Over the years, the complex has made significant strides in energy-saving technologies, transitioning from stable operations to more economically efficient practices.

Key improvements at the complex include:

  • Chlorine Gas Compression Liquefaction System: This system helps save energy by reducing electricity consumption, leading to a savings of 1.056 million kWh annually, which translates to 129.8 tons of standard coal saved each year.
  • Graphite Hydrochloric Acid Synthesis Furnace: The introduction of this technology has significantly increased the production of medium and low-pressure steam, generating more than 8,000 tons of steam byproducts annually, contributing to overall energy efficiency.
  • LiBr Absorption Chiller: By replacing a high-operating-cost screw unit with a LiBr chiller, the plant has achieved an annual electricity savings of 146,000 yuan and a reduction of 7,300 tons of steam usage, further optimizing energy use.
  • Power System Improvements: The complex's power system is now capable of "isolated network operation," meaning it can operate independently of the grid without causing disruptions. This capability helps mitigate the potential losses that could result from device shutdowns, enhancing overall reliability and reducing energy waste.
