General introduction
On July 28, 2016, Phase I of Pengfei Group's LNG project, with an annual output of 600,000 tons of methanol and 400 million cubic meters (m³) of LNG, was successfully put into operation. This project is significant as it is the first of its kind in Shanxi Province and also the largest methanol co-production project in China.
The first phase of this project utilizes the surplus coke oven gas generated during the coking process at Pengfei Group's coke production base. By leveraging the high methane and hydrogen content in the coke oven gas, the project adopts an innovative approach. The methane in the gas is directly separated and converted into liquefied natural gas (LNG) through a dry cryogenic liquefaction process. Meanwhile, methanol is synthesized by introducing carbon into the system, utilizing an advanced continuous gasification process with pure oxygen.
Once completed, the project is expected to produce 600,000 tons of methanol, 400 million cubic meters (4×10^8 m³) of LNG, along with other by-products, such as miscellaneous alcohols, sulfur, and exhaust gases. This project represents a key milestone in the development of clean energy production, effectively utilizing coke oven gas to produce both LNG and methanol while also contributing to sustainable resource use in the region.

General introduction
In August 2018, the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project of Shanxi Yunjin Natural Gas Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 23,000 cubic meters per hour (m³/h), was successfully put into operation. Shanxi Yunjin Natural Gas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanxi Meijin Energy.
The project is located in Guxian Village, Donghuangshui Town, Yangqu County, in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. Since its commencement, the LNG facility has been operating smoothly, contributing to the region’s energy needs and supporting the growth of clean energy solutions in the area. The project plays a crucial role in the local energy infrastructure, enhancing the supply of natural gas in the region and contributing to sustainable energy development.
