General introduction

Homeland Hotel Overview: Homeland Hotel is a luxurious 5-star establishment with 228 luxury suites and 37 villas, making it the first villa-type 5-star hotel in China. The hotel boasts a designed air conditioning load of 7500KW.

Energy System Design:

  • Traditional System (Air Compress Air Conditioning):
    • Power demand for chillers: 1500KW
    • Total system power demand: 2440KW
    • Total lighting system power demand: High, contributing to a substantial total installed capacity of 5500KVA.
    • Dual power supply system with emergency power backup is typical for 5-star hotels, resulting in high total investment.
  • Tri-generation / CCHP System:
    • The tri-generation system significantly reduces power demand by supplying all electricity from the system.
    • Natural gas fired generators are used as the main power source due to the lower heat price of natural gas compared to diesel.
    • A dual-fuel energy center with multiple generators ensures stable power supply.
    • Total installed capacity of the energy center: 6800KW (including 2800KW backup diesel-fired generators).
    • The cooling needs are met by recycling waste heat from the generators, reducing the power consumption of the air conditioning system.
    • Actual power load of the hotel is reduced to approximately 3000KW.

Generator Setup:

  • 8 units of natural gas-fired generators, each with a capacity of 500KW
  • 4 units of diesel-fired generators, installed to provide emergency backup in case of failure.

Annual Energy Usage and Savings:

  • Total annual power consumption: 9,000,000 kWh
  • Natural gas consumption: 2,900,000 m³
  • Energy cost: 2,697,000 RMB
  • Maintenance cost: 320,000 RMB
  • Total operational cost: 3,017,000 RMB
  • Hot water supply (via waste heat recovery): 74,000 m³
  • Natural gas savings: 528,570 m³
  • Cost savings: 491,570 RMB

This advanced energy system ensures efficiency, reduces operational costs, and makes significant savings in both energy and maintenance.

High Efficient

The total energy efficiency of the system exceeds 50% due to the step-by-step utilization of energy, optimizing energy recovery and minimizing waste. This highly efficient approach ensures that the hotel’s energy consumption is significantly reduced while maintaining reliable power, heating, and cooling services. By recycling waste heat from the generators for both air conditioning and hot water, the system maximizes energy use, resulting in lower operational costs and enhanced sustainability.

High Efficiency

By using natural gas as the primary fuel for the system, harmful gas emissions have been significantly reduced. The emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and solid waste is nearly zero, with SO2 emissions cut by at least 50%. This shift to cleaner energy sources not only contributes to improved air quality but also supports environmental sustainability, making the system a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional energy sources.

Peaking Regulation

The consumption of natural gas in a typical system tends to be lower in summer and significantly higher in winter. However, with the tri-generation/CCHP system, the pattern is reversed: natural gas consumption is higher in summer and lower in winter. This shift allows the system to effectively manage peak load demand, optimizing energy usage throughout the year and ensuring a more balanced and efficient consumption of natural gas.
