The role of a U-type tube?
The U-type tube throttling device is a widely used component in LiBr absorption units, valued for its simple structure, reliability, and broad flow rate adjustment capabilities. This device plays a crucial role in managing and reducing the refrigerant pressure, ensuring stable and controlled flow within the absorption cycle. As one of the earliest throttling devices applied in these systems, it has remained popular due to its efficiency and ease of operation, making it a dependable choice for ensuring optimal unit performance.
In LiBr absorption units, the U-type tube throttling device serves as a liquid seal to prevent direct fluid transfer between the high-pressure condenser and the low-pressure evaporator. As the high-temperature, high-pressure liquid from the condenser flows through the U-tube, the gravitational pressure of the liquid column within the tube causes throttling, reducing the liquid’s pressure and cooling it to enter the evaporator as low-temperature, low-pressure liquid.
The height of the U-tube is critical to effective throttling and is carefully calculated based on the pressure differential between the condenser and evaporator. Additionally, the diameter of the U-tube is chosen in accordance with the unit’s refrigeration capacity to ensure efficient flow and optimal performance.
