What Are Series and Parallel Configurations of Solution in LiBr Absorption Units?

The flow mode of the solution in LiBr absorption unit significantly affects the cooling performance and energy efficiency. Among them, the series and parallel configurations are two key flow methods in the design and operation of these systems.

In a series configuration, the LiBr solution sequentially passes through multiple stages or components. In the absorber, the solution absorbs heat through heat exchange with cooling water or steam, thereby increasing its concentration. The concentrated solution then flows into the generator for heating, releasing the absorbed heat and evaporating the water, resulting in the formation of steam. Throughout this process, the solution can undergo multiple heat exchanges, maximizing the utilization of thermal energy.

In a parallel configuration, different portions of the LiBr solution can simultaneously pass through different devices or channels for processing. This design allows different parts of the solution to participate in the cooling process in parallel, thereby enhancing the overall cooling efficiency. Each channel can independently adjust flow rates and temperatures, increasing the system's flexibility.
