Use and Maintenance of Vacuum Pump

The vacuum pump in the Hope Deepblue LiBr absorption unit is essential for maintaining the required high vacuum, directly impacting the unit's cooling capacity and longevity. A reduction in vacuum pressure can diminish cooling performance and, if severe, can lead to internal cavity corrosion, ultimately shortening the unit’s service life. Here are critical maintenance practices to ensure optimal vacuum pump performance and longevity:

  1. Use Specified Vacuum Pump Oil: Only the designated oil should be used for the vacuum pump. Using unsuitable oil can reduce drainage efficiency, lower the pump’s maximum vacuum capability, and decrease the pump's service life.
  2. Regular Oil Changes: Periodically inspect the oil’s condition via the oil level sight glass. Regularly changing the oil helps preserve the pump’s performance and extends its lifespan.
  3. Check for Emulsification: If the oil level rises or turns milky, this indicates emulsification. In such cases, loosen the oil drain bolt at the bottom of the oil tank to remove the emulsified oil or any water droplets.
  4. Maintain Proper Oil Levels: While the vacuum pump is operating, ensure the oil level remains above the lower line of the red mark on the sight glass. If it drops below this line, promptly add oil until the level reaches the upper line.
  5. Restart After Prolonged Idle Periods: If the pump has not been used for an extended period, perform several test runs before a full startup to prevent potential damage from excessive load during initial operation.

These practices are essential to maintaining a high vacuum level, optimizing cooling capacity, and extending the lifespan of the vacuum pump and the LiBr absorption unit.
