Harnessing the waste heat from the flue gas of the biomass boiler, the heat pump will significantly improve the thermal energy output efficiency

The Alps, a globally renowned scenic region and popular tourist destination, is often referred to as the "Palace of Nature" and the "True Geomorphological Museum." This majestic mountain range has inspired numerous classic films, including "007" and "Heidi." Known for its breathtaking beauty and challenging terrain, the Alps serve as a premier destination for winter sports enthusiasts. It is a paradise for adventurers and a leading hub for winter sports worldwide.

Thanks to the strong support of our Austrian partner, Hope Deepblue recently secured a bid to supply a hot water LiBr absorption heat pump to a power plant in Lermoos, Tyrol, Austria. By harnessing the waste heat from the flue gas of the biomass boiler, this heat pump will significantly improve the thermal energy output efficiency, contributing to more sustainable energy usage at the facility.

Tyrol, Austria, is a premier winter sports destination in the Alps, boasting over 600 peaks that rise above 3,000 meters. The region features a wide variety of ski trails catering to different skill levels, offering skiers the freedom to explore expansive snowfields and enjoy world-class skiing experiences across the state.

Wood chips, a widely available biomass fuel, are abundant in the mountainous regions of the Alps. In these high-altitude areas, numerous biomass heating plants use wood chips to generate hot water for nearby towns and cities. However, while biomass boilers burn wood chips to produce heat, they also emit large amounts of high-temperature flue gas. Without specialized energy-saving recovery equipment, such as a LiBr absorption heat pump, this valuable thermal energy is wasted. Additionally, the strict waste emission standards in the Alps' tourist areas add to the environmental operating costs of biomass heating stations.

In response to these challenges, many biomass heating plants are seeking advanced energy-saving solutions to improve the thermal efficiency of their systems. As a recognized leader in waste heat recovery, Hope Deepblue offers a transformative energy solution. We help convert biomass boiler flue gas systems into efficient active flue gas condensation systems by incorporating LiBr absorption heat pumps. These heat pumps cool the flue gas and recover a significant amount of low-temperature heat, which is then raised to a higher temperature to preheat the return water of district heating systems. By using the waste heat from the boiler as the driving energy source and consuming minimal electricity, Hope Deepblue’s LiBr absorption heat pumps effectively utilize waste heat, demonstrating our philosophy that "Waste is Money."
